RAF Avro Lancaster III EE197 forced to make an emergency landing at RAF Spilsby after being damaged during a bombing raid over Germany - January 15th 1944.

(L-R) Pilot F. Wootton Gallager and crew; Alfred Young, Ronald Scott, Selwyn Fawcett, Charles Stewart, Kenneth Waddington & Murray Sherman

Frederick Wootton Gallager, Ronald Parson Scott, Kenneth Waddington, and Murray Sherman were later KIA in Lancaster III ME827 while on a mission over the Netherlands on June 22, 1944

I'm not sure I am at ease with referring to this photograph as 'cool' - sobering more like.

Avro Lancaster NN806 crash at RAF Fiskerton. Incredibly only one crew member was injured (sprained wrist), all other crew uninjured.
