Please help identify private purchase/civilian A2

[P-47 thunderbolt]

Recently purchased A2. 1 piece back, plain green cotton lining, hastily constructed (note mistake stitch holes under pocket flap, wonky stitching), Leonard USA zipper, external poppers on pockets, no collar studs, sewn on collar hook,

lining and cuffs seem original, no arm vents. Any help would be much appreciated, I'd love to place a date on it.

That is a Civilian A-2. The same Jacket that was worn by "Oddball" in the movie Kelly's Heroes. well worth the keep and care of.

Haha err no, the film production company took a couple of liberties there, enjoyable but was a action comedy movie, he actually wore a 70's Schott motorcycle jacket with visible snaps, I kid you not

Nice looking jacket though, mine is the same except 2 piece back, has real worsted wool knits, no side hand warm pockets, no inside pocket and brown satin lining

Yeah Oddball’s jacket had snap-down epaulettes for a start, and the snaps on the windflap can be seen in those pics. P-47’s A-2 is a lot closer to an issue one.

Agree Mikey p47,s looks more like a A2 and not like the movie jacket if it wasn't for the visible pocket snaps more, I've seen that olive green liner before but can't think where
