Andrew,
That is a real nice one. The label will just top off that jacket. That was a good find by you.

I will take a pic of John's spec label. It really does complete the jacket. I decided that I was going to buy another Perry and use the label and John came to my rescue!

Beautiful looking leather on that one- do you think it might actually be the W535ac23377? Not that I would know but it appears very different from mine which is the 42-16175-P, which I imagine is the label JC's doing (he's using this one for a pattern). Has anyone ever seen an early Perry to compare with the later ones?

I think it's a great idea putting in a GW label as it finishes it very nicely and I know you wouldn't do it but there'd certainly be some who might at some point would try to pass off this type of thing as original, one or two times removed- i'm sure some of John's will be sometime in the future...

That label looks like the real deal. The only thing that gives it away would be the stitching. Did you stitch that on yourself?

Deliberately tacked on so it could not be confused with an original if ever sold!

Here's one WITH a label.
Although the cuffs and liner have seen better days, they still have lots of wear life left in them. What's remarkable is the goatskin, still very strong and supple. It's tagged '42', but this jacket seems larger, I think it may be actually a 44.

This is the sort of stuff my dreams are made of!

Andrew (RW), your Perry appears to have leather characteristics like my size 44 Perry - a lighter almost caramel coloured horsehide with lots of graining from day one. But the pattern & cut does appear to be different from my 16175s - but then both my 16175s are different to each other too! The sz44 is very roomy for a 44 with quite short sleeves, the sz42 is more conventionally cut - certainly fits much more like a 40 than a 42.
I saw comments somewhere that the 23377 was exclusively goatskin... not sure how true that is, but the example mazeta has found there looks great too - Crown zip, lovely goatskin pebbling, light russett colour - oh be still my beating heart! Looks like the 23377 collar is a bit taller & wider overall than the 16175 examples in general.

Thanks guys for posting these pics, you've made my week! And I'm drooling in anticipation for John to do a GW Perry too...

Jason I have a 23377 on the way. I believe it is goat too. From the measurements it fits more like a 42 despite the 40 tag. I will post some pics when it arrives.
