Gents,

It's been a while but I just got back from a long trip and I wanted to share this extremely rare piece from an extensive grouping: the original flight suit worn by the Jim Sandberg while testing the Northrop/McDonnell Douglas YF-23 (PAV-2) on its first flight.

This flight suit was made by Bowlers Shirt & Uniform Co., Inc. This company provided uniforms for test pilots from Northrop, Lockheed, and Grumman, among others.

The condition of this piece is mint, which is rare considering it's over 30 years old and the nature of its use.

Left chest depicts the embroided name "JIM SANDBERG".

Right chest depicts a Northrop McDonnell Douglas ATF-23 flight test patch.

Left shoulder depicts the USA flag patch.

Right shoulder depicts an ATF CTF patch.

One of the coolest aspects of this grouping is that Jim provided pictures of himself wearing the flight suit during the first flight.

Say no more guys, enjoy the pics.

Regards,
Jorge

Jorge ..... We’ve missed you !!
Welcome Back !!
I see from your new acquisitions that you’ve been time traveling again . The 1990s .. I presume. The next time you go back do me a favor and see if you can find my ex-wife , and tell her that she was completely wrong about me and that I did amount to something !

Thanks guys! This flight suit and helmet is part of an extensive grouping that belonged to Jim. I'm about to finish all the pics of the stuff, most of them are test pilot uniforms, which is my main focus. He has been involved in the evaluation of over 40 types of airplanes, mostly tactical jets. F-4, F-5, F-14, F-18, F-20, YF-23, and B-2 among others.

They are almost done. During my absence the past 3 1/2 months, the time machine brought back over 70 new jackets home. Gosh, taking the proper pics is such a task, but at the same time I enjoy checking the details. All I have to say is that we are going to be very entertained the next few months.
