Hi Guys
I picked this duffle coat up a few years ago and I was told it was a post war Royal Merchant Marine Duffle coat . It’s fairly heavy although not as heavy as a WII Royal Navy coat. It has one single marking that I photographed and is a deep navy blue color. Looking for a confirmation, or information on this one.

My Dad's father was in the Merchant Navy after serving with the RN and I've got a photo somewhere of him wearing something which looks remarkably similar. Sorry not very scientific and naval stuff is way outside my line of interest or knowledge but for what it's worth Burt!

Not my area either but recall when surplus duffle coats were stacked high and cheap in markets and surplus stores up and down the land. According to The Saleroom this is a Merchant Marine duffle coat that sold some time ago. Wrong colour of course..

That will hard to identify as the merchant navy is simply the term for ships registered under a British flag it does not issue uniforms.
Each shipping line has it's own so that could be from any of the companies that where around at the period it dates from.
Maybe the clue is in the writing around the anchor if you can read it.

Hi Dino
Thanks for your input .
The writing is actually a serial number.
Here’s a photo of a Royal Merchant Marine Sailor wearing a similar coat .
