Just got an L.L. Bean shearling and Mouton G1-ish bomber!

Traded a guy on styleforum for a leather shearling lined G1 type jacket with a Mouton collar. Size small. Fit is solid. Thinsulate sleeves. Warm as heck.

From what I can tell, the manufacture tag says 1997. Must have been the last run of decent bean leathers. Made in USA. looks like a Golden Bear tag.

Skins look like goat. Similar texture to my late 70s/early 80s golden bear A2-ish jacket.

Unfortunately a 3 piece back, but even the early 80s ones were 2 piece. Never seen a one piece shearing lined bean A2.

Anyway, should be a great wearer... As I'm not gonna don my original Star Sportswear A-2 with much regularity.

These are one of the most underrated jackets out there . The prices are reasonable for the quality and warmth you get with this Goatskin jacket. I’ve had one of these for years and actually used it as a flight jacket. (Imagine that )
It is comparable to a ELC Air Comfort jacket in warmth . I would recommend this jacket as a daily wearer if you live in a cold environment.

Great score, I have one as well, it doesn't get as much wear as it should given the stupid amount of winter jackets I have. They're great value when you see what the other manufacturers are charging for goatskin and shearling jackets.

Digging the jacket. It looks like there were some cost cutting measures compared to the earlier ones like @B-Man2 jacket.

Three piece back... And wool pile lining. Still wool shearling, but on a fabric backing.

I'm guessing b-man's jacket has actual shearling skins?
