Another of my G-1s. This is one is from the 7823A spec. and was belonged to a Marine A-4 pilot. I was figuring that "A" models had only the specific Talon zipper. But this one and another I have seen have the original Conmar as on later "B" and "C" versions.

That's a mint 1957 cagleco if I 'm not mistaken.

For me, not to preserve that super rare thing it would be a sin. It's a marvel that it survived for so many years in this condition and
it looks pretty cool the way it is. Doesn't need any patina. If one wears it until it develops patina and looks old, then where to find one that looks like new?

The world is full of G-1 jackets with patina. But how many 'new' like this are out there?
That is it's beauty and it's value I think.

I would be interested in seeing some pictures to show how the goatskin is breaking in Marv.

I took these photos this morning (not great) but this is it in it's current state of break in......to be honest, not much more from when I got it really apart from the mouton has begun to tighten a little with exposure to the elements.

See what you think.......

I have a Monarch size 46 that fits more like a 44 too -- except for the sleeves being too long for my 44 body.I don't wear it as often as my A-2s, but now and again -- I have it today.

I don't have any pics, but I'll try to get some for review. It's a nice seal, wrinkly, pebbly goat with a dark brown color and the prerequisite paint smudges here and there.

It's decent condition, had the knits replaced by Flight Suits a few years ago using their M-422a knits to replace the originals. Nickel Conmar zip with the blackened puller. MIL-J7823 (AER), CONTRACT NO. N383s-80667. There's a long cloth tag in the right pocket with a faded "46" on it, but that's about all the markings. Has that mid-seam running the length of the lining that's supposed to be indicative of Monarch.

As promised, my Monarch G1. Anyone have any background on this contract?

As I said, I had Flight Suits replace the knits with those they use on their M422a. The originals were the same sort of single layer weave on the waist.
No perforation on the wind flap and no stencil on the collar back.
