Is this jacket M-422A?

I bought this jacket a while back. There's no tag so I just wonder which type and year it was produced.
What do you think? 1944? With the Talon Zipper, I think it's an old one.

It is either a M422a or a AN6552. It was refurbished at a Navy depot at some point in its life, most likely shortly before the end of the war or slightly post war

if the zipper is original (and it looks like it is) it cannot be a G1, plus I have never seen Navy refurbished G-1s

All the jackets that were returned to the Navy depot went through a refurbishment process. Usually the lining and the knits were replaced. Also many times they were resprayed, yours looks like it was resprayed. The resprayed ones are not as smooth as the non resprayed ones also they feel dryer to the touch. the jackets were then reissued to other pilots.

I couldn't see USN stencils at the back of the collar. Do you think it's rubbed out over time?

From the looks of this it could possibly be a H.L Block AN-6552.

The HLB contracts had some unique differences, which you might be able to confirm on yours.
The back of the collar doesn’t have the usual banded arched stitching which many other contacts had and the grommets under the armpit are stitched instead of riveted.

These details are specific to HLB contacts.
