HOME MADE Cockpits for gamers

I do not recall if it was this group in this forum that I had mentioned this or not. I mentioned a few years ago that I had met a guy who built his own cockpit on a gimble and had HD surrounding screen to play WW2 fighter pilot games. Plus he had a mock up Formula 1 racer too. I came across a group of people who are doing the same thing. Also, there are prop cockpits from Star Wars and Star Trek coming up on a few auctions. aadcf33503334c3d6697f2df3f94263d.jpgd6d5f9faa88843b42e2c3b56c985a030.jpgecb0c0d537cd444b835764509e66144e.jpgCockpit19.jpg Now that is cool! Here are some photos of what I have been telling people.0b07496b723d173a9b228dd53ed976d9.jpg1e1cc31d6b973b7b31419dd84ffb3ee4.jpgea6dc1e734d96294dc2f1d09e87ac543.jpg7e160b6a09ae56b13cd02759227d5c02.jpg5b4a21a8ed017048c98b30c8312166b8.jpg1399addeaae5f14d908f9e3ae1e701c6.jpg

Check this one out with a gimble. Like I mentioned i can't remember if it was on here or another forum that you can build your own. But now there are companies coming out with ready made 4D sims for the serious gamer.12d48d3e34a344ea1718487ab058eb8a.jpg

And now more and more people are doing the same. Or they buy a movie prop from auctions. 0dcac31702e5fbed2ddc0e7cfae39017.jpg Or you can purchase military surplus planes from their boneyards. It is getting very easy to get them now.1cfe3a92e90db8a3af237176b8a07ef8.jpg1701d1d1a77a319eb9a729a523b8ebd8.jpg Or make it out of card board boxes! Now tell me that isnt way cool!

I have a friend who sells parts for WW2 airplanes...like the joystick, instrument panels and gauges etc. If I can ever get my house finished fixing it up I was thinking of making my game room into something like these guys have. Since I am an artist/ props... it would be easy for me to build a mock up cockpit. I have been trying to get rid of my pool table so I make room for it. I have offered it for free if someone would come get it and take it out of the 2nd floor. No one wants it.

We had a familiar guy who was not a pilots but dreamed a lot to be. His friends worked as aircraft technicians and helped him with the decommissioned parts. As a result, he assembled cockpit of the Tu-154 at home and used it for a simulator. Very impressive.
If there is a desire, money and good hands, then a lot is possible.

Matter of logistics! If you move it on... "so much room for activities "!

That's what you call real gaming experience! I wish I had the budget to get one. My wife would probably divorce me though. I'm already driving you crazy with my sleepless nights playing World of Warcraft with my friends. I can't imagine her face if I brought such a thing in our living room and went into it! Not to mention that I've been spending quite little money to buy wow gear so if she ever finds out that I'm spending money on a game I'm packing my bags for a fact. At least I'm enjoying myself as the lockdown I'm working from home and I'm super bored.
