Some of my my mother's family celebrated like this. Nothing expensive or glamorous, just ordinary mothers and old men worn out by five years of war work, air raids, rationing and bringing up the kids.

Edited to clarify that they are not all members of mum's family, just five of them are!!!

Very special day and one worth remembering because today was the day when Nazism got its just deserts.

Big day here, lot of folks fly the flag to celebrate. Probably a bigger deal in countries like here which were under Nazi occupation.
