If you work at the post office...you might want to quit reading this post right now and go fondle your AK-47, or take a nap or do something else even less productive.

Luckily, most of us only come into contact with Federal/Government employees only at the Post Office. So we tend to say things like "Going Postal" and such. If you are lucky enough to have other contacts like the VA Hosp system or other Gov agencies, you see that the Post office is not unique in their attitude towards everything in general. The underlying theme is Government Employee.

Yeah can't wait! And where will the Canadians go to get their health care then. I got an idea, let's just outsource it to Canada, why re-invent a "Square Wheel" when one already exists!

Yeah! . Let's outsource the police, schools, and hey, why not the military!  They all provde really bad service, and it would be all wonderful if it were private, because private companies (like Lehman, Bear Stearns, Fannie Mae) NEVER make mistakes!  I say let the ignorant masses take care of themselves - I made it on my own, with no thanks to the law and order, education system, or anything else that was provided by those who came before me, and gosh darn it I don't want to have to pay to continue supporting those damn socialist institutions that I had to live through as a kid. Now don't get me wrong - I'm not stingy: I'm more than happy to pay for putting a fence around my community, private education for my kids, and a private police force for my community. And if the country around me falls into Bangladesh-style disorder because the lower classes can't pay for their own education, I'm more than happy to move to Switzerland... or any other country where people don't mind paying taxes in order to live like civilized human beings (but don't expect me to pay for it).   Yep, that's a real knee-slapper.

This is becoming political ....

It is. Please allow me steer a course back toward my original topic.

First, I've cooled down about the post office. After thinking about it, I realize that there have probably been some complaints over the years about how I have handled some criminal prosecutions. Maybe some of them have even come from postal workers. Who knows? But from now on I think I'll try to keep my gripeing to a minimum when it comes to how other people do their jobs.

Second, I didn't much mention John in my above posts, but believe me, we were in constant contact by phone and by e-mail during the entire time the jacket was missing. He never failed to return a message and from Tuesday on, he was looking from the jacket even harder than I was. Also, he told me that if the jacket really did disappear, he would make me another with no waiting time. There is no doubt in my mind that Goodwear provides as good or better customer service than anyone in the industry. Thank you, John.

Finally, when I finish these next few sentences, I will get into my truck and head for the post office. After all this, I've just got this good feeling that my A-1 will be the best jacket that that I've ever owned!

I just can't believe how well this jacket came out. The fit is fantastic. The arms are trim but don't bind. The armholes are comfortably high so the jacket doesn't ride up when I reach above my head. The two halves of the front hang straight down when I wear the jacket unbuttoned---they don't gap open at the bottom. There is ample room in the gut such that I can sit with the jacket buttoned or unbuttoned. The leather is soft and light enough that the jacket conforms to me rather than the reverse. After only an hour of wear, the jacket is already beginning to develop character. Wrinkles are forming in the bends of the arms and in the lower chest area.

Aaargh! I've been trying not to think too hard about a jacket that John is making for me.... now I'm all excited. I sent him my original 27753 A-2 to use as a pattern. Will hopefully arrive in a few days....

Does it look anything like this? ;)

It does, indeed. Please check out the grain in the front left chest area. Don't ya just love it! Now imagine my large, happy self wearing that jacket and holding a tall glass of Maker's Mark. Quite a stunning vision, wouldn't you agree? :p

Just one question , ' Do all Americans drive trucks ? ' [even lawyers]

Hi John,

No, not all Americans, but I would venture to guess that most Southern men do---even professionals. If one lives in the rural American South, a truck of some sort is pretty much a necessity.
