German Long Coat

I picked this up the other day at a local antique shop. It's not a flight jacket, more like an officers great coat, or possibly a civilian version. Nice brown horsehide in excellent condition. The lining is near perfect, only one small split seem at an armpit. The only real condition issue is split in the finish on the right shoulder, it isn't ripped through just a crack, see the third picture. Is there anything that can be done to fix this? Other than that the leather is soft and supple.
