Hello guys,

As it is hard to find a genuine USN G1 jacket sz46 & 48, I wonder if sz44 has a big difference in terms of measurement (pit to pit, length, sleeves...) ?
I’m 6’1 and 205lbs

has someone experience this ?

thanks

Anthony

Hi Anthony
Often the difference between a size 44 or a size 46 G-1 jacket is very noticeable. Especially in the torso and sleeves . We are pretty much the same size and all the 44 jackets I’ve had were tight in the body and short in the sleeves depending on the maker.
Some size 46 jackets were also very trim while others fit me nicely. Size 48 jackets are out there but as you said can be difficult to find and they may cost more. I suggest you post your measurements in the Sale Section. Maybe someone has one they might like to sell.
Cheers

Take a peek at the high end repro makers and some of the eBay sellers 'Size Charts' for an indication. Take note of the measurements and compare them to yours as Burt suggested. Generally the measurements increase exponentially; however, for some reason the sleeves always get longer, the bigger the chest?

Thanks for the 2 answers...for the repro I thing they are made for the public market so the size should be different from a miltec G1 don’t you think ?
I got a 48 that fit quite well but it a 1975 cowhide, I want to find a 68-69 goatskin and if I compare size on eBay, sometimes they are close to mine, but are the measurement well taken ???
From the first answer it seems that 44 should be too short in sleeves and chest...So 46 seems to be the size...& still hard to find

thanks again.

May I suggest that, once you know your personal measurements , that the size tag and number become irrelevant. I’ve had jackets marked size 44 that fit like a 46 and size 48 jackets that fit like a size 46. What prompted me to buy them was, that I knew my measurements and when the buyer posted the measurements of his jacket , I knew it would fit regardless of how it was marked . If you’re not sure what to measure or how to measure there’s a Sticky in the heading guide that tells you how it’s done . Or just get back to me and I’ll help you out with it.
Cheers

The measurement of my sz48 G1
Length Collar to hem / 66cm / 26inches

Thanks for your help,

Ok great .... now ordinarily if I had seen those measurements and the jacket did not have a size tag , I would have guessed that jacket to be a size 46. With the exception of the arm length of 26.7 inches, the rest of the measurements are typically size 46 measurements. A size 48 jacket is usually a bit bigger in the shoulders and in the Pit to Pit measurements. So this is the reason most here go by the measurements of a jacket rather that the tag size. Good luck with your search!
