G-1 question

Hi Can anyone tell me the orientation of the USN perforation on the wind flap of a 1984 Ralph Edwards G-1?
Does it run top to bottom or across eg U
S
N or USN.
I'd like to check for consistency before I commit to it. Does it make a difference in terms of authenticity?
Thanks

Hi Len,

I'm not sure as to a 1984 RE, but I am almost certain that older REs (ie., the B-series jackets) had a vertical "USN" on their windflaps.

If the tag in the jacket reads as you indicate in your first post, the jacket is very likely an issued G-1, but pictures would help us ID it as being original or reproduction.
