While I applaud and appreciate the ability to copy a jacket, why would one copy the obvious error in the snap placement on the pocket snap?

John Chapman does that on request. Some people don't want a "cleaned up" version of the A-2 jacket. They want a repro that wears like an original, warts and all. For me, it's a selling point. I'm sure others feel differently.

BTW, is this mid-brown or russet horsehide? Can't quite tell from the photos.

Dead on true for the Combat Clones or whatever he or DD was calling them, but is the to be done on every jacket?

Yep, sounds like that's what you're getting if you order from Shawn. I'm sure you could ask him to correct any errors he copied from the original, and he'd be happy to do it, but otherwise, he's just going to copy exactly what he sees on the jacket.

Definitely a very nice jacket but the devil is in the detail. One of the details is the wrong type of press stud which Five Star is using and the sloppy way of setting them ( also on their B-3 ). Better and more correct studs and a good setting tool shouldn't be to difficult to find. Just a remark.
