Jacket Single-breasted white fabric collarless under-jacket with long sleeves, closed seven buttons to the front, and fitted with electrical terminals. The under-jacket features two white heated gloves which are plugged into terminals on the ends of the sleeves, two heated shoe insoles with wires that are plugged into terminals near the bottom of the under-jacket and a four-pin electric plug marked "1923-1100" that is connected by a wire to a plug and terminal on the left side of the under-jacket.
Worn particularly on night operations by Royal Flying Corps (RFC), Royal Naval Air Service (RNAS) and RAF bomber crews in 1917-1918. The heating current was generated by a dynamo which was mounted on an undercarriage strut & driven by a small propeller in the slipstream of the main airscrew.
