New zip and a clean...good as new..but better.

If I had to buy a sheepskin jacket, it would be an Anj4 (or a German Kanal jacket).

Yeah, I kind of wonder why the originals switched from snaps to buttons. It's not like snaps were something new and expensive by that point, and they're definitely more convenient.

Just thinking off the top of my head, metal snaps, decreasing temperature, condensation followed by ice ?

I'll defer to your expertise, John. I was under the impression the snaps came first.

edit: ah, here's where I got that impression: it's buried in the photos that ELC posted of their AN-J-4 repro on their website.

Not sure if Eastman's advertising materials are reliable though, so I could well be misinformed.
