Does anyone have any techniques or experience in the removal of decals?

Thought kits..

They might be heat sealed... sponge and cling wrap? Soak/peel?

No idea... I have let a lot slide because of the decals.... Feel your pain.

If they are water slide decals then micro sol or micro set may lift them from the leather . These products are used for decals on plastic model aircraft. The solution softens the decal and makes it easier to apply as far as I know I is vinegar based

I'd use diluted nail polish remover if it was me. Works for water slide model decals and you can adjust the dilution rate to control the "hotness" of the solution. Make sure that the remover contains acetone.
Good thinking.. Add more remover to a VERY diluted mix in small increments..
