CV-8 HORNET FOUND

Pretty cool that Paul Allen's research vessel Petrel recently found Hornet's final resting place. From launching Dolittle's raiders to the Battle of Midway and finally the Battle of Santa Cruz Island she was in the thick of battle early in the war. Rest in peace to the 140 souls who went down with her. Here's an interesting news segment that includes one of the last living crew who served on her when she went down.

Yeah, the video from Petrel shows in pretty good detail an F4F Wildcat resting on the ocean floor; probably a veteran of Midway!

I had worried that the passing of Paul Allen would have put an end to these projects, but the keep rolling on. More power to their elbows!

The Hornet photos were amazing, looked like she was ready to launch a strike.

Riddled with bullet/schrapnel holes!
