Looks like Lieutenant Colonel James Averell Clark was quite the badass. He received his wings as a member of the Royal Air Force before joining the Eagle Squadrons early in 1942. Transferring to the U.S. Army Air Forces in September 1942, he became World War II DOUBLE ACE, credited with shooting down 10.5 enemy aircraft in aerial combat. Here's another famous color photo showing him wearing the jacket with Don Gentile and other 4th FG/334thFS members which he commanded. Notice the beautiful chocolate brown color of his jacket.
