Clayton Kelly Gross' 354th FG A-2 jacket

Kelly was a great guy and funny as hell. I was lucky to have met him on several occasions when I worked at the Museum of Flight in Seattle during symposiums and AFFA annual reunions. He always referred to himself as an "undefeated" fighter ace.

Kelly also had a black Cadillac with a personalized license plate that had "P51ACE" on it. After he died, I got a hold of his widow whom I had come to know very well over the years and asked her if Kelly's Cadillac was for sale as I was very interested in buying it. Unfortunately, it had already been sold without the personalized plate on it.

He was definitely one of my favorite aces of all time.
