Back Lenghts on Motorcycle Jackets

Do motorcycle jackets generally have a shorter back length than flight jackets?

Yes, by at least two inches tho some have duck tails that dip down.

I would say early motorcycle jackets, 30s to 50s, seem to be shorter in length. In the 60s when more bikes started to have lower bars (café racers) longer jackets became more popular, often longer only in the back panel.

If you ride a custom or cruiser where you sit upright a shorter jacket is in order, if you have a sporty number with low bars and you lean forward then you need a longer jacket.
