ATF M-41

Anybody got a feel of that?
How does it look?
Does it compare to original patterns?
Or is it adjusted for the Big Mac generation?

The old version or the new version? They are coming out with a new
version any day now, which has a better/heavier outer cotton shell, and
a 100 percent wool lining. Rollin says that his new version will be the closest
thing to an unissued original as possible.

Their old version has a lining that is a poly blend, with a slightly lighter
outter cotton shell.

Their old and new versions are true to size. Its made to fit like they did during
WWII.

Since these jackets were designed to go OVER top of a soldiers tee shirt,
regular shirt and sweater for layering in cold weather, they are not tight by
design to fit over all of that.

They taper down slightly at the bottom also.

They have a bi-swing back and underarm gussets for easy of movement
even when wearing all the above mentioned stuff.

I have a size 44 M-41 from ATF in their old version. Here are some measurements
with the jacket zipped up, and laying flat on my bed for your reference:

Armpit to armpit across the chest: 26 inches

Bottom hem across the front: 23 inches

Sleeve length from shoulder seam down outside of sleeve to
the end of the cuff: 23.5 inches.

Back length from base of collar down to bottom hem: 28 inches

Shoulder seam to shoulder seam across the back: 21.5 inches.

As you can see, this jacket has a regulation 6 inch taper from the
chest to the stomach, so Big Mac eaters will have to go up a few sizes
if you want the jacket to fit around the middle. But then its going to
be HUGE around the chest.

Its a comfortable jacket, and since its a halfbelt back design, it does
not look too military when worn around.

Hope this helps.

Hey FLATHEAD
Thanks for this great info.
I know the M-41 doesn't look too military, that's why I like it.

Too bad that the originals on ebay cost a fortune.
I suppose this item shouldn't be rare, there were thoudands and thousands of them out there during the war.

To add to FLATHEAD's useful info, the old-type ATF M41 is made to latch at the throat only if your neck size is WW2-proportionate. Mine's a 44 and the collar is no good for more than a 16" neck, if that big.
