Got a G-1 that I'm replacing the wrist knits on. The waist is fine, except it's is faded and will not match. Anyone had success dying G-1 wool knits?

You'll have to use vinegar so the dye is etched into the wool. or buy a special dye for it. Procion dye? I think that's the brand name that has a mild acid in it. Otherwise even the cheap RIT dye works well with vinegar. Getting the shade right is another story. Mixing dye is different than mixing paint because it's very transparent and you'll need a good understanding on how colors work together to even get it close.

50/50 with the dye amount would be pretty good IMO. The water bath is, of course, a much larger quantity.
Doing this on the jacket might be tricky.
Interesting idea.

IMHO you will never get the knits to match from dye. Your liner will be stained for good if you try. Save yourself the heart burn.

FlightJacket.com or Gibson Barnes make excellent Knits. Just be sure to ask for the wool double rib type.
