Another interesting USN jacket on beloved eBay, someone has to let this seller know that this particular patch is in fact from VPB-102 [rare one!] - more information here: https://www.usmilitariaforum.com/fo...-vp-102-westpac-eastpac-sopac-wwii-5-patches/

There is no doubt about the fit of most WW2 M422 type jackets- they were worn large and long- many almost to the crotch. It's a look I don't see worn here much- I'm not sure any repro maker actually makes one that captures the long shape overtly- Good Wear's Monarch looks very close though.

Funny- a thread in FL complaining about that exact fit:

my ELC M-422a is a size 46 long which means it is a little bit longer than a standard M-422a from them... when I got it (second hand, so I had to take what was on offer), I did not like the additional length that much, but after owning it for some years now, I have grown quite
fond of it. it perfectly fits over a CPO Shirt Or the Seaman GOB sweater and the fit on me looks a lot like many period pictures I have seen here and in books etc...

23rd FG. Just sayin'.

Sorry, AVG pedantic -- and yeah, a pilot hanging on to an M-422 probably WAS in the AVG, but sold out by being shanghaied into the AAF. ;)

(Yes, I'm joshing. Mostly. ;))
You’d think I’d have learned by now.
