About AVI 55J14

Good evening,
I found a used AVI 55J14 in my size. I wonder about the shape of the back and more mainly the V-cut can be more important on size 46. What do you think? I looked for Brett's (@Brettafett) review but I couldn't find it. Has AVI made several versions?

This my 55j14 52“ bought a few months back, same as yours.

I’m a 46” chest and I wear normally 48” in jackets but the AVI m422a 48” was too small, replaced it with 50 and 52 which are very close In size. They are keepers mainly down to the gorgeous mouton & overall quality. This 52” 55j14 is much larger than the m422a 52“ but for the price what the hell, nice to have some variance in fit.

@Capt Can you please give me the width at the shoulders and armpits as well as the length of the sleeves from the shoulder seam to the bottom of the knit?

No problem, I have only ever had one maker that I got a good fit by luck but we can’t expect their patterns to fit every one with our modern bodies.

Not that I’m over weight my achilles is my shoulders, I get a jacket that fits there and the arm length is too long just like this one. Without a Quasimodo bespoke pattern to fit most regular patterns have been good enough for me.

shoulders across the back = 21”
armpits front = 25”
arm to end of cuff = 28.5” to long.

thier 52” m422a is overall smaller than above.

Hope this helps

Thank you @Capt
I actually didn't buy it. The measurements given by the seller do not correspond to those indicated on the AVI site. I will compare with yours.

The measurements are from a 52”, there 50” 55J14 dimensions where smaller than there 50” m422a on the website so I asked for 52” on both versions. When received they were the other way around in terms of fit and size, not complaining though great quality for the price.

overall the 52” m422a is a better fit Similar to a Cockpit 48R G1 I have.

just ordered a BK m422 and there standard 48R apparently will fit me, will wait and see as modern repro patterns differ but this is what they came back with.

M-422 Willis & Geiger size 48
