A-2 Epaulet Question

Are the epaulets on all original A-2's sewn onto the jacket by the "X" stitching only, or did some manufacturers sewn them onto the jacket by the "BOX" that contains the "X" stitch? Or, did some sew onto the jacket by both the "BOX" and the "X"?

Looking at my originals all the eps have been sewn on by the box. I am not going to take them all apart to check to see if the "X" stitching is also attached to each jacket. Why don't you buy up several originals and take them apart to find out! :lol:
