1940’s Richman Brothers, Horsehide Half Belt (Size 42)

Hi guys, I found this Richman Brothers, horsehide half belt up the other week from eBay and was looking for some information on him and if anyone else owns a Richman Brothers leather from around this time.

I really love the fit and the style but was shocked at how light and thin the horsehide is. I’ve been told that this was normal for horsehide jackets and coats on the high street from around this time “1940’s” and that military jackets and coats were of a heavy horsehide if that’s true?

Anymore information is appreciated.

Hi, can't tell you much about it, but really nice jacket. Love those buttons. Horsehide is very tough but flexible-doesn't have to be heavy - AAF A-2's aren't particularly thick. Lighter hides are generally easier and more comfortable to wear.

Just gorgeous - love the color on that hide.

btw, you might be able to narrow down the year by identifying the zipper. IIRC, TFL has a zipper guide.
