Not until 2 yrs approx., I started to source an Indian chief head patch & sew it on a type III jacket. The result is ok but still is not what I want.
Then not until very recently I start to actually do the embroidery.
The highest grade denim players are actually wearing these embroidery denim jacket on himself as U saw from the videos of the Conners Sewing factory owner - his is more towards flighter jacket graphics, mine is more towards motorcycle graphics - the Indian chief head. They are sewn by machines as he has got the right machine to do it. I have to sewn by hand :<
Then I started figuring out what makes a good embroidery.
The 4th pic is sewn by 1 thread - you see the smoothest of the face, the disadvantage being very very very timing consuming
The 5th pic is sewn by a full 6 thread - you see the differences
The 6th pic is the finest called " thread painting" - a kind of realistic drawing by thread.
The 7th pic is a similar graphic done on a denim jacket - not upto what i want'
The last few pics is the WIP - I use 3 threads, middle of the road. very, very very time consuming, I estimate it will take a total of 100 hours + to finish it. Please note I had to do a sketch painting in pencils to learn the shading of the face in order to determine the color to use in the threads.

That is a vintage polo patch sewn on a type III jacket - the quality of the patch is excellent, but the result is just..... lacking of the little "ding" look.... That leds me to do my own Indian chief head embroidery - i want to get an Exact copy of the one in the book of the King of Vintage.

Hi B-Man,
just a bit of side talk, U know I am from HK & English is not my mother tongue. I want to ask How do U feel my written English ? I know native speaker do have tolerances towards non- native speakers; but 1-10, how to you find my written English from a native speaker stand point ? or do U find sometimes my written English sounds a bit awkward in terms of use of words/wording or the way I write?

Hi Geeboo
I’ve always found your English to be fine . Your written English is very good as well . I would say it’s easily a 8-9 . I think the “Slang Terms” may be a little difficult for you to understand at times, but we certainly have no problems understanding everything that you write . It’s good to see your back with us again .
Cheers

Yeah, only about 1/2 finished. I estimate it will take 100+ hours to finish it.
VERY timing consuming. SO if U add my labour costs per hour into it - at US$10 per hour, the costs is like US$1000; which I am not willing to do as I think it is undervalued. At $20/hr, it will cost US$2000 + jacket costs $100=US$2100 ! - who will be interested to pay $ to buy ? That's why I say machine embroidery is ok, hand-sewn is not commercially viable

aha. your math explains all. never the less, nothing beats the lot and feel of hand made. exhibit A: years ago when I was restoring a Morgan 3-4, I decided to go to the uk [$ was on a parity with the gdp] and visit the Morgan factory. to my surprise, there were workers hand fitting ash wood chasis, and hand tooling body parts. yes, the motors for Morgan vehicles are sourced, but damn near everything else is hand made. the end product, as we all know is beautiful....as with geeboos work as well, and, the jackets that Chappy makes, Steve makes, Dave makes, et al.
