On the Eastern Front, Russians had every excuse and went out of their way looking for an excuse to execute Germans....that is after they robbed him of decorations, watches and clothing. Luftwaffe pilots on the Eastern Front did not take chances of being caught out of uniform. The French Cafe Racer jacket was not Military regulation and a pilot knew it...so did the Russians.

Since you noticed the constricted movement of the cafe racer jacket then you can see why they were designed more so with a racer in mind. Motorcycle racers do not move that much and rarely raise their arms. The jackets are for protection against wind, bugs, rocks, cold, and protecting your boney ass when sliding across the ground or asphalt! A Luftwaffe pilot only wanted it, the fancy scarf on their neck and all the spiffy decorations to look jazzy and Hollywood for their Nazi worshipping ass fans back home! LOL Example...look at Adolf Galland, his pencil thin mustache, fat cigar, tilted visor, womanizer and Mickey Mouse logo. Tell me he is not all cocky....
Guess what...he did not wear a French "Hartmann" jacket. I have a lot I could tell but i am tired and wanted to go watch movies...see ya later

I love those Frenchies....but what of the German variant? Love those too.

It seems to me that the cycling jacket is typically French. I'm not sure that this kind of jacket was easily found in Germany in the 1930s and 1940s.
German pilots often bought these jackets when they stayed in France.

I could show a ton more. But you get the idea

Have you ever seen anybody else wearing the "Marseille" jacket-pattern?
I think Marseille's jacket is very stylish and it also seems like nobody has ever ben able to re-create ist accurately (despite several makers claiming to offer an exact repro).

Hi Kermit, I'll see if I can post some pics in the future!
It's one of Pilot's jackets, indeed!

Yes, the cut is a bit longer and wider. I don't own any pants high-waisted enough to pull off the original "sharp as a knife" look.
The good part about that is that I can wear the jacket with a pullover underneath, too.

No russet ever...no real fleece /fur collar ever...
Hide: Seal or basalt blue grey only!
Happy to make them with white “ bone “ WW2 Ri-Ri ‘s and of course the mandatory blue glass buttons ( no plastic buttons) ... as it should be.
Special orders with silver “Zipp” also available... limited to 6 jackets.... due to WW2 “Zipp” shortage.
WW2 Glass boutons are freely available.

For what price?

I'd quite understood your ironical message first, quite a strange reaction to have when someone asked for info. Sure, i won't ask anything to you twice.

Pilot old chap you seem to be falling back into posting snippets and hints. Surely it would be far better for this enterprise of yours if you were to be upfront about pricing, company names and contact details instead of all the Secret Squirrel pm for info stuff.

Just the opinion of an old fogey who has bought and sold since Adam was a lad and all said in good humour.

New from Connection Knitwear : a cyclist jacket.
Not conform to the production of the 1930's and 1940's, but for those who are not necessarily looking for a historically correct jacket, it might be interesting.

More details can be seen on the facebook page :
