My son is planning to go NROTC. Don’t know which community (aviation, surface, submarine, etc.) yet

Great idea. They deserve a cool jacket and all things considered, it not too bad looking!

I don’t think the actual jackets have been issued yet. We’ll slowly see them start to appear on naval officers only. I guess once again rank has its privileges. It will be interesting to see how closely the new jackets resemble the original AN-J3 jackets.

The jacket I picked up was a Cooper label, made in the USA goat skin.

Its not a military issue jacket.

If they're all going to be like what that bloke is wearing in the photo what's really surprising is the fit and cut which is a proper mid 20th century fit rather than the parachute bag cut which most of the last few leather issue jackets were. I'm quite impressed by that, well the fit and cut anyway, the leather itself has all the charm of a shopping trolley.

I agree the fit and cut looks really good. I really cannot tell much about the leather in that picture, except that it is likely black goatskin likely of a similar quality to the current Cooper Air Force jackets.

I have a FSL jacket just like that, but with a snap down collar like an A-2.

First the Army gets A-2s again, and now the Navy SWOs. You’d think the guys wandering around the pentagon had leather envy.

I hope it’s not just officers, but anyone with SW badge.
