B-3 and RAF Irivn finish?

Question,
The B-3 had a lacquered finish as I understand. Were the Irvin jackets lacquered also?
Thanks

They all had a lacquered finish but the kind of lacquer applied wasn't the same. If some sort of heavy pigment or paint finish isn't applied to sheepskin then the outer will be suede and will absorb water and grease and oil like a sponge. Eastman uses a distinctive finish now which they say is very like original B3s and I think it does look like them. But I think they use it for the RAF jackets too and it's not right for them.

I have a Eastman C 3 in this 'broken hide' finish it and I can't say I like it much. I had one of the older Eastman pre broken hide Irvin jackets a while ago that had a much nicer finish that was much more like originals IMO.
