Not all jackets are tight US Pilots Great Sailing UK 1944

I think as Buck pointed as a former aircrewman...skin tight doesn't work. I remember an old post on TFL wherein another former aircrewman said when he was issued a G1 the supply depot asked for the size of their flightsuits and they received a size up in their G1s. Obviously it's not an exact...

I think it looks good and certainly not too big.

Let's also not forget they were a working garment, not a parade class A. Uncomfortable restriction would render it useless for working conditions.

    Star looks excellent for sure.

I do agree with CBIs statement regarding the FL. They seem like a friendly bunch and I am a member but I have to say they have a tendency to obsess over the fits. I have seen some spray painted on looking jackets receiving accolades from the membership which left me baffled. I have...

I have also followed ebay over the years and found groupings for auction interesting. Many times I have seen a tunic and an A-2 for auction. The tunic is many times a size 36 and the A-2 a 38, in other words the airman wore a size larger than his suit size. Not gospel, but seen often.

I've seen so many say this jacket or that jacket is too big and the comical thing is they often look quite like the fits in the photographs. The obsessing about the fit which I have been guilty of is crazy in my mind. Additionally if you have a little too much in the mid section a tight fitting...

Been a while since I posted. In my perspective when I look at photos of airmen and aircrews the majority to me show "slack" in the fit of A-2s. The painted on sausage skin look is less common. The very snug-looking jackets frequently upon closer inspection show the individual wearing a...

A2 jacket fit - honest opinions requested

Too big, I don't think so at all. They both to me look pretty good. Size them down and I don't think you'd be very comfortable.

    elc hilts a-2

Watch the Devils Brigade. William Holden plays Col. Frederick and he is seen wearing an A2 in several scenes, typical of airborne officers during the war. In one scene he appears to be wearing a redyed Roughwear, in another he has a private purchase one with a two piece back. Bet the director...

Don't remember where I read it, but the owner of Real Mccoys Japan owned the original jacket from the movie and it was in fact a 16159 redye. Obviously this would necessitate more research.

    B6 or B3?????

Andrew, thanks, I was aware of Conmars on B3s, just not on B6s, unless you have seen them?

    B6 or B3?????

Also the zip appears to be a Conmar, which I haven't seen on a B6, although I certainly could be wrong about that.
