Well, I got the jacket in the mail and, alas, its a bit too big for me): It seems to be a true 46R. Im truly bummed because its a GREAT jacket. The leather is very thick, like my Langlitz. It's way better quality than my buddys Harley Cycle Champ jacket. Plus, I love the center zip CHP style. Oh...
I guess Id like to know more about the era it was manufactured, If Harley actually made them or sub-contacted them out, What model this was called, etc. Im a bit nerdy about that kind of stuff(:
Great story! I have the same jacket, except in goatskin and with the removable collar. Made in the 80s. She's seen a lot of miles, but still in fab shape.
I impulse bought this cool center-zip Harley jacket. Its a 46R and will probably be too big for me, I wear a 44R, but it was a steal ($86+free shipping) so I thought Id take the chance that it maybe, possibly might fit! Ive never seen an AMF jacket in this style anywhere. It has brass zippers...
Ah, I didn't know that. Ive never owned a contact G1, just a few Schott variations which both had epaulets. I bought this one locally from an older gentlemen who was the original owner. He said he never wore it and it just sat in his closet since the 70s. It looks brand new.
And love it! Thick, heavy leather, dark chocolate brown, slimming fit and no epaulets. I know Imperials get a bad rap among purists, but mine is a well constructed, great daily jacket.
