New here with a question about an A-2 jacket

This 'Hot Shots' jacket bears a closer resemblance to the Air Force version of an AN-J-3 than it does to an A2.

Bronson's 1950s Reversible Souvenir Jacket pics and thoughts

Bravo Brett, a terrific jacket. I've had mine for almost a year now, and when I wear it I feel like a kid in high school. And believe me when I tell you; more accolades will come your way wearing this jacket than wearing any flight jacket on the planet. Give it a try Burt. At your age indeed...

    Furniture polish on jackets?

A lot of high end car polishes use beeswax in their formulas. The higher the percentage of beeswax, the higher the cost of the product. For leather jackets I've had excellent results with a good quality shoe cream. Provides a warm sheen, and still flexes well with the leather.

What jacket(s) are you wearing at the moment?

A question for our Australian members: I've heard that kangaroo hide is the toughest leather in the known universe, yet have never seen a jacket or any other garment made with it. Just wondering if there is an interesting story waiting to be told. Has anyone seen a flight jacket made with...

When Carroll Shelby was asked what his favorite car was, he replied: "the next one". Very meaningful for many VLJ members I think.

White vinegar for removing musty smell from leather?

You need to be very careful when working with hydrogen peroxide Burt. The food grade stuff that is available in health food stores is a 35% solution that may take the color out of the leather, but the drug store or super market peroxide is only about a 3 - 5% solution which should be safe. As...

Fivestar ANJ-3 horsehide... how's the fit look from there?

Hi RumRunner..... About a year ago Five Star stitched me up an AN-J-3 very much like yours, with epaulets, inside wind flap, and two ply waist band knit. What I did was send the best fitting jacket I own which is a William Gibson G-1, to Five Star, and asked Shawn to make the AN-J-3 an exact...
