    A-3 cap...ELC vs BR?

Just wanted to thank you all again for your input. The ELC A-3 cap arrived today (size 7 1/8). The cap just needs a touch more work shaping it, but it fits beautifully right out of the box. The size 7 USN cap that I ordered from a vendor here in the states was much smaller than ELC's size chart...

Watches to wear with your flight jackets...

Some Bulova's had railroad track dials. Elgin and Waltham do not. Does the case look nickel plated like your Waltham or is it sterling? There's an example of a sterling cased Bulova in the link below for reference...

Watches to wear with your flight jackets...

Very nice Burt. The A-11 is a Bulova. I can't quite tell, but it looks like it may even be one of their sterling cases.

What jacket(s) are you wearing at the moment?

I think it's probably the best product that I've purchased from Bronson to date. So much so, that I decided to keep both sizes that I purchased. I've installed an M-39 zip on one and an M-42 on the other. One will be patched with a VF-3 patch from ELC.

Practicality of flight jackets in everyday life.

Agreed Jay. It's the perfect piece for those times that it's just too warm for an A-2. Which is a lot of days in the southern parts of the U.S. My Navy jackets are significantly more practical and comfortable than their AF counterparts. The M-421A is no exception. I think that a three jacket...

What jacket(s) are you wearing at the moment?

Size 40 Bronson M-421A arrived late last week. I gave it a very slight shrink by washing it on the colors setting temp (around 85° F IIRC) and drying on medium heat. The zipper pull is on the correct side on this jacket, unlike the size 38. Wore the jacket out for the first time today and...

What jacket(s) are you wearing at the moment?

Absolutely gorgeous jacket Stu. Based on the photos, it looks like it's verging on GW and Sheeley territory. It's great to see you back!

The wizard works his magic once again...

I'm absolutely thrilled for you! It makes me happy to see a twin jacket out there. I'm not sure if Dave has done any other AN-J-3A's in that hide.

    A-3 cap...ELC vs BR?

Thanks Grant! MASH offers a 7 and 7 1/4, but no 7 1/8. After reviewing MASH's size chart, I think that the size 7 might be slightly too small anyway. The 7 1/8 ELC looks like it is the best bet as far as the fit is concerned. It's just a shame that the ELC is twice the cost of the MASH cap. :(

My last M-422/M-422A/AN-J-3A/G-1 etc (maybe) - Sheeley

Agree 1000%. I can't even put into words how comfortable my Sheeley Monarch AN-J-3A is in this hide.

    A-3 cap...ELC vs BR?

My head measurement is slightly less than 22", so hopefully, the size 7 (XS) ELC wool cap will still fit fine based on their chart below.

    A-3 cap...ELC vs BR?

Correct Jan...yes, that was a typo on my part. That would be two hat sizes, which would equate to roughly 2cm in circumference. Of the three, only MASH offers a size 7. The smallest size in ELC is a 7 1/8 and BR is 7 1/4. From what I've read, all three will shrink with use and laundering, so...

Looks like you went with the same choice in hide as I did. What do you think of that particular goatskin?

    A-3 cap...ELC vs BR?

Looking to purchase an A-3 cap, but unfortunately MASH is currently OOS in all sizes. When comparing the Eastman A-3 to the Buzz A-3, which has the lower dome cut out of the two? Since I'm a size 7, I'm likely going to need to purchase a 7 1/8 or 7 1/4 and shrink it just a bit. 1-2 sizes in...
