Speaking from the motorcycle side of things......alot of British leather jackets were quite "flimsy" due to being made from cape/sheepskin, which makes it hard to find originals in wearable condition
Some more tokens/coins
City Tattersal Club 1967
(horse racing/owners club in Sydney, Australia, my grandfather's membership token that's on my Aero patrolman jacket )
Fijian penny coins
(They usually stay on a RAAF "Black Cat" veteran flying suit)
Palestine mandate silver coin

Dude I love that WEP!
Got the fantastic sheen to the nylon like the originals had ,but the length is abit off (which isn't a bad thing, considering modern jeans sit alot lower than the jeans of the 50-60s when these were designed.....the pants made for these sat even higher on the waist)
My collection of "dressy boots"
The Dress Boots would not too out of place in a suit
the Swedish Army boots are flexible enough to be semi-formal in the right situation and clothing
the William Lennon boots are purely a outdoorsy/re-enactment boot which cant be dressed up lol
Swedish Army boots...
From my experience......the older Canadian (pre CADPAT) was built to last yet be comfortable.......the newer stuff is pretty disposable
*says that as a guy that loves my pair of these after using the " Squishy sole moonboots" made by Boulet*
I ,like yourself, grew up wearing boots......IR's are too flimsy and soft which leads to me rolling an ankle lol
I love my White's that I got customised (got rid of the goofy Cuban looking heels and multi stack forefoot) and my ancient swedish marching boots (look like IR's but lace higher on...
I wear anything between a 44L to a 48R in jackets, as a found out in Shibuya I tend to be a little too tall and too portly to find anything OTP in the Japanese market.
Your mate would have a devil of a time, even in bespoke stores since they wouldn't have any experience sizing that far up for a...
It's a wee bit colder (and rainy) in the Antipodes these last few days and my custom D Pocket MC jacket I've waited 12 months to be made is finally here......so I'm going to try and "break it in"
It's been a month if humid hot weather here, so I put my Buco D Pocket repro on before it decided to heat up for the day.
Lovely and thick hide but a soft enough drape that it doesn't feel like I'm in a vice.....more like an aggressive bear hug :D
I hate that when you explicitly mention to Aero that you would like a extra 5-10cm in body length but not add any length to the sleeves, that they totally ignore your recommendation and give you added length to the sleeves
(Thankfully it's only happened to my OG and 59er Highwayman, so I'm...
I've been trying to get one of these for years.....but the unusual sizing labels (compared with the other "NATO standard " sizing the British use) has put me off ordering one from Fleabay
Mate.....that last picture looks like you've got serious cracking and deterioration between your shoulders
I've got a Aero from the early 90s and it is only just getting surface/topcoat cracks
ELC probably went off "historically accurate" A2's but the prop department stuck on a pre war USAAC decal instead?
We all know that "close enough is good enough" is the catch cry for prop departments
