Until recently it was WW2 originals or nothing but of late my simple brain has registered the style and wearability of nylon jackets and an interest in what was previously a swear word to me, repros. This has probably something to do with a nasty experiece I recently had with an original A-2 and the alarming rate of wear to some of my other original WW2 jackets with the result that I have replaced some very nice WW2 dust gatherers with some very wearable nylon. Here's mine -

27753 unnamed contract A-2
Foster Sportswear AN-J-3a
Monarch M-445
Reed Products B-9
Stagg B-10
N-1 deck jacket
M-41
M-51
M-65
Skyline F model L-2B
Wisconsin Mfg Co D model N-2B
Buzz Rickson MA-1
Windward 1940's civilian A-2
1950's half belt motorcycle jacket.

Hi Andrew,

Well, a few changes, I think it's 19 A-2 now but I have to check. Some have gone, other have arrived.
I'll take a picture of them tomorrow, I've never tried all the A-2 on a single picture !
And I have found my D-1 jacket since last message.
So I now own every ww2 USAAF jacket type (and in a few days when the A-5 type trousers I've just bought will arrive from the USA, I will have also every ww2 USAAF trousers, but that's not much interest on the forum ;) )

Unfortunately the server of my previous website is now closed, so I now work on a new one and I haven't found the time to put every jacket on this new one.

Cheers,

Tim.

Hello,

As promised, I took some time to make a picture of my original A-2 jackets.
There are 19 jackets there but of course I've forgotten one, the last one I've bought and was stored in another place.
So the right answer is 20 A-2s !

The 19 jackets :

I'm amazed at some of these collections, not only the number of jackets, but from the images I've so far seen, the condition of them too.

I seriously think all the original A-2's you gents have should be photographed and placed on here for people like me, who can never possibly accumulate such a collection, to drool over. Well done people on preserving some excellent pieces of history.

I am deadly serious about the photos ;)

OK, this is the first time since I joined this club to come clear so to speak, I think it's no more than fair for me to do the
same (if you show me yours...). No originals and all ELC, some patched up others just plain.

The word 'awesome' is much overused in my opinion, but it seems inadequate to describe this ensemble - how about remarkably astonishingly awesome ...............

Here's my collection:
A2 ELC size 44 seal house, Better Duck jacket art (aged beautifully)
A2 ELC size 46 seal house (zipper shot, "Hangar queen" so to speak)
Irvin ELC size 46 (still beautiful & in one piece after 15 years)
G1 ELC size 44 (very hard used jacket, cuffs, waistband and lining full of holes)
B3 ELC size 46 (zipper KO (replaced in 2008 by an ELC Crown), seal lacquer cracked in many places)
M422A ELC size 44 (still perfect, except for a hole in the lining, where I used to keep my wallet)
A2 ELC RW 1401 P size 46 (very smooth leather, not entirely to my liking, actually, not liking it at all)
A2 ELC Werber Leather Coat Co 1933 size 46 (almost best of all)
A2 Star Sportswear size 46 (jacket art project 457th BG 751st BS "Home James" in progress)
A2 Good Wear Dubow 27798 with NOS Crown zip size 46 in russet GS just arrived (December '08) (best of all!)
A2 Good Wear Aero 16160 NOS Talon zip size 46 in seal HH (very dark seal; love to wear it!)
A2 Good Wear Dubow 20960 size 46 in dark russet HH in the beginning of the pipeline (have yet (March 09) to discuss details with John)

Tim that's insane! What a collection. Instantly I start wondering when you began collecting all these and how many $ you've invested and what it's worth now.

Thanks for doing that, i'm sure a lot of serious collectors would want to keep their gear hidden away.
