What jacket(s) are you wearing at the moment?

Gotta get myself an ELC reissue in a 40 one day. For now this WornTime(trademark pending) ELC house B3 fantasy jacket will suffice

Nick what do you not like with the fit? I think it looks good on you. The length may be a bit short on these, but like you said it was designed like this.

D
Thanks! It’s a tough one to explain. Knits are very taught - it’s kind of a constricting feeling old thing. Probably could have gone up to a 42 here from the 40, but I find the Buzz L-2 series being about perfect in a size 40. I’m usually a 44 everywhere else.

It was an expensive jacket that doesn’t get enough wear. Hmm….

Taking my good lady out to lunch in a rather pleasant country establishment so attired in bespoke heavy tweed sports jacket, Le Chameau jumper and tattersall check shirt, moleskin trousers and Barker's brogues.

I'll get me coat ...or rather tweed jacket....

My Whatpriceglory A-1 arrived the other day.
First thing, I threw it in the dryer, on fluff, with two pairs of sneakers. The action was so violent, that the sneakers opened the door three times.
I'm used to weathering and breaking in clothing from my experience with movies/tv wardrobe. (An example of my avocation is on display as my current avatar, the kit I designed and made for the third season of Deadwood.)
Then I spritzed it with water, and threw it in on low. Then I used a hand-held steamer to compress the sleeves. Like most things, it came out folded, with a crease along the top of the sleeve, which makes the shoulder look like Joan Crawford shoulder pads. Books with a few five-pound barbell weights for more compression.
I slit the stitching on the pencil slot. Entirely superfluous for my use, the holes closed a bit from the steam, but it matters not one jot or tittle that they're visible.
Then onto the suit form with more steam to give the front a memory where to fold when partly buttoned.
Then, I grabbed by trusty "wife" by the brass, and painted the inner anchor buttons. They were clear plastic, and clearly, not kosher. There's a split of authority (as we say in the law biz) concerning those pesky buttons. Some real photos make them look like bone, or brown, and some with no anchors at all. Having worn it a few times, I'm going to repaint the anchors a brown to match the leather and knit.
You'll see that I have the jack on my glasses, so I posed as the knave with Her Majesty (God rest her soul). Strangely, the moderators have been dragging their feet in mulling over my request to change my name to One-eyed Jack. I am, after all, both of those things.
Very comfy jacket, now that it's broken in. No complaints, and a touch cheaper than 5-Star.
Five Star looks good for my upcoming (shhh, don't tell my missus) A-2.
Cheers,
John

Steve, Sounds like an episode of Jeeves and Wooster in the countryside. A wooly version of the country squire, you are, in whose modest country estate of slate rooves (archaic English), piled stones, and several dozen rooms spread over three wings. Were you wearing a solidly somber woolen knit necktie, in your regiment's stripeage? Don't forget to say, 'it were', instead of 'it was'. Or is that too far north for you?

Here's a cringe for you all. A friend, who wound up in the movie/wardrobe dodge, got an A-2 in 1977 or so. At that time, in Calif, I guarantee it was an original. No idea who the mfgr was. He either got it off a rack at a costume house, or bought it for less than $50. Probably much less. It was rather gently used.
To weather it instanty, he soaked it in cold water and hung it from a hanger in the shower to dry. To give it the look of more use, he put fishing weights in the pockets for a permanent bit of sag.
It turned out spectacularly. Such is an example of movie magic. I'm not prepared to go that far with my A-1, but I did steam and knead the pockets a wee bit.

Thanks mate!

They're actually overdue for some more dubbin ;-)
You might want to pick up a brass-bristle shoe brush, the kind I used to take the kinks out of the furballs on the collar of my G-1. It's made to raise the nap on suede shoes. Don't brush with it. Hold it in place, and rotate it a bit, then lift and separate. Like Jerry Lee Lewis: Kinda stand in one spot, wiggle around just a little bit.
Rock on wit chore bad seff
