Ok …..back to the topic of the thread ..From P-47s photos, this looks like the fading process, if done carefully, can really enhance a jacket and make it take on the look of a well worn original war time A2. I think slow and easy is the way to go on this and with a bit of attention you can get the desired results your looking for.

I think yours may do well considering it has a redye type coat.

I think the dark gw redye did well because the UV effectively broke up the dark top coat, which in turn was protecting the original leather finish. The leather probably stayed quite supple as UV light didn't actually touch it very much.
It certainly created created a better and more convincing look than ELC's 'reissue/Hilts' A2.

Abrasion certainly helps too. Once the finish has begun to break down, the general wear from abrasion accelerates noticeably.

When I was an active member at the Denimbro forum, there were contests...a couple of guys bought the same pair of jeans, posted progress of the wear and fade of their individual pair, and finally (after a year) decided on a winner.

Maybe a bit pricey for flight jacket afficionados to get identical GW contracts and start the same, but I think I will follow Burt's experiment and throw my FS Dubow in the ring and "Wear it, wet it, bake it!"

Let's see how the Pakistanian goat looks compared to horsehide after some UV treatment...

Glad to have you join in. I think a goat skin A2 would be an interesting addition to the mix. I’ve had the Horsehide outside now for the last few days and don’t see anything that could be considered as a fade yet. No tanning salons in this jackets future

I've got a video somewhere of one of these bastards eating a rat.

Lots of redbacks too which aren't fun, and especially when you've got small kids.
