That is stunning. Not really a fan of ELC’s sheepskin as a rule, but that really does look like an original.

The effect would not be hard to reproduce, you just need to understand what chemical and treatment will provide this or that result.

The Jacket has gone through the exact same process all the other jackets go through before they leave the eastman factory with the aging process, added, so to answer your question 100% it has, and has passed all the strict quality control that any jacket that leaves the factory does.

No, there are no defects atall in the jacket, it is in excellent condition.

My guess is that it got damaged/stained and someone had tried to cover it up by using wax and other colourants

Partial strip of the finish, knock it about a bit, a light wash over with acrylic dyes, light wash with sealant / or / and maybe a waxy conditioner, buff and Robert is your relative, one jacket with simulated wear which can cover up damage if required. The size reduction suggests more was done.

99% of end users who paid good money for a repro wouldn't want to try doing this stuff nor have the experience to know what the end result of this or that process will be.

I notice the seller is in Ivybridge so wondered if it was an early experiment of one of these.

Thinking about it probably not, why would Eastman need to make up a whole jacket when they could just test a piece of hide.

I wonder if the empty tins of brown stuff on the windowsill bottom right in the 4th pic have anything to do with it?
I still like the look of it, looks a more convincing ageing job than most I’ve seen-the leather bits don’t look brand new like they usually do-new leather and aged sheepskin looks daft. Appears to have sold.
