They Alden 405s do have the horizontal stitch. The Alden 405s made for sale by J. crew does not have the horizontal stitch. Everything else is the same. I guess technically one could argue that without that stitch pattern they are not 100% accurate, but if that’s the case then from what I’ve read on the topic, none of the Alden’s made today are 100 % accurate because the movie boots didn’t represent the actual Alden boot of the time period portrayed in the movie as the actual ones aren’t made any longer. I’m not an Indy authority so I don’t know if that’s factual or not . But the boots are nicely made and I do like them .
Horizontal stitch or not you're gonna love them! This is what I've also heard, that the actual pair Ford was wearing is no longer produced (differences in leather colour and type I think). An indy boot in no.8 cordovan is my dream boot.

Those sound sweet . I edited my last post to include a thought about maybe sometime we could do a comparison post on the two styles, if anyone had an interest in that sort of info .
Let me know your thoughts on it.
Cheers

From what I read some time ago, Ford's originals were 405s and at that time were made of calfskin in a different brown shade. And yeah, no longer an offering by Alden -- but everything else about today's 405s and 403s are the same construction as those originals.

That'd be sweet. Maybe a separate thread where we can gather experiences from members owning indy boots (let it be Alden's, Wested or other repro's) and all available information regarding the pair Dr. Jones was wearing.

Black ‘Adventure’ boots arrived. Breaking in is a bit painful.

I also contacted Alden Madison NYC yesterday, they told me that the older version that Ford was wearing was canvas lined, you can see it in the photos of the thread you posted.

I’ve actually got three pairs-I got a used pair of 875’s off EBay last year which were already broken in. Those are fantastic, so it’s worth persevering with the new ones.

A great not so common model !
These are my absolute favourites, they cropped up on ebay, I wasn't even convinced they were munson rangers but took a punt and got a bargain. They are more solid than rangers ive had and are so comfy I couldn't wish for a better boot

Got some interesting boots yesterday... They are fur lined and are extremely well built with thick leather and even double buckles up top...
Although the previous owner says they were US issued and come from the USA, I think they are from a European Army,.... Our own Austrian Army Feldschuh Schwer looks a lot like these new boots, although they do not have the double buckles... Maybe someone has more info about these?

Phil:
Those are nothing that I’m familiar with as coming out of the US Military Supply System .
Did you get them through someone in the US ? Could they be Canadian military boots ?

Well, I got them from the nice guy who also sold the ELC House A-2 to me recently...turned out that he has a lot more stuff to sell and when I mentioned that I might be interested in some good buckle boots (I meant the M-43s double buckle boots originally) he came up with these...
I also think they must be of European origin as their size says "43" and I also did not find anything else, indicating that they are of a US military source...

They are very nice nevertheless and though they look and feel heavy, they are easy to wear and comfortable to walk in..

No, Mine are made of heavier leather and the laces are held differently (don't know how to put this correctly in English... )
