Hi gents,
I wanted to share a bit of quick phone pics of this jacket, shows its character, grain and fading at the edges after abuse this spring/summer.
This jacket was bought from Greg almost new and this spring and summer I wore it more than any other leather jackets.
The A2 season is short here, it is getting colder and this jacket may have to be worn two or three times this year.

Here is a pics after wearing one season. Absolutely love this baby, think in a year it will get even better and better.
There was a lot of hot weather and I didn't wear it as often as I would like. Nevertheless, I like the way it began to look :)

Someone will be happy with this jacket if you let it go.
Yours is almost all from grained panels, on my jacket they are on the sleeves and pockets.

STUNNING photos, showing the skill of Platon using opposing textures of leather for pocket flaps and sleeves. The leather worn arrears look antique and the olive thread adds a military detail which is noticeable at close quarters. It’s like a work of art. I’m going to pick mine up from the heap on the floor and hang it nicely on a proper wooden hangar. Thankyou.

Try this with your wooden hanger Stu.

Yeah they really are stunning and yours looks amazing Dmitry.

And sorry your one doesn't fit Burt but how many times have we said around here that if you're tall, it's not going to work ;)
Spot on Tim … I figured a 48 might do the trick if one ever surfaced but for some reason And I think I know why . Platon keeps making the larger jackets short .

It's a real shame he won't do long and extra long sizings like ELC. I've said it before but TBH I'm completely bamboozled as to why he won't. Shooting himself in the foot.
Platon advertised his jackets as being made according to the exact sizing of WWII A2 contracts . However, I own a couple of original size 46 and size 48 A2’s and they are bigger than the 46 and 48s made by Platon. I have a feeling that he makes his jackets on the smaller side to save hide and get more jackets out of each hide he buys . I have nothing to prove this comment but an original size 48 does not have a 25 inch back length.

The more you wear it the more that wear of the top dye will continue. An emergency situation here meant I dug wet, muddy ditches wearing mine so abrasion, creasing and moulding happened many, many times faster than the vast majority of jackets here. I liked the result a lot but also liked the russet underneath a lot too so ended stripping the seal and refinishing the jacket completely which is something I love doing. Sadly I outgrew the jacket* and my son now has it complete with the original Catch 22 patch I sewed on it for him. Looks the dogs dangles.

*As an aside the reason for outgrowing the jacket was down to the growth of the tumour in my stomach and not down to eating too many pies or lack of exercise some away from VLJ had joked about. That jacket fits me again now and I wouldn't hesitate in buying another.

No! Don't baby this stuff!!! The guys back then didn't and as a result the gear took on "the look" so many strive to achieve in their repro's today. Just wear the sh1t out of it and chuck it in a corner when you take it off.

Looks great, Dmitri, better and batter with time! I'd like to think I also contributed to the wear with a few flying hours, then again, I only had it for about half a year.
I'm so happy it's in good hands now :)

Thanks, my friend. Your flight hours in this A2 in the beginning are very important background cause they made this jacket the real flight jacket - I sill haven't been able to fly in this Dubow yet unlike my other jackets.

Interesting observation - I had a similar discussion with Platon once as I simply couldn't validate the size that my jacket actually should have (according to the original measure table Platon provided for the Dubow 27798). He just responded that (all) customers are measuring incorrectly a jacket which really needs to be flat on the ground ... . Different way's of measuring jackets are advised/claimed by many vendors/manufacturers for sure - however they usually do not deviate by more than one inch though ....
