Sounds like overkill I know but you can build up some really nice differences in tonality over time Burt plus it's fun to do. I'm pleased with how they're coming along and they've really come along from how they looked when new.
No overkill at all . I was asking because it’s almost time to do my boots and I wanted to see how you did yours

Haha!!!!

In short they're brilliant buddy. Some of the nicest boots I've had in a long time.

The leather is full on, these are the real deal, not some flimsy, thin leather knock off. These are very hefty, thick leather. The soles are stitched and nailed just like originals. Sole pattern looks to be like originals too. I have no idea where they're made to be honest, Sturm Mil-Tec are German but I don't know if they're made there. Saying that the quality is really top notch. They are as good as if not better than any high quality shoe brand you'd buy at a high end shoe shop.

If you want I can take some more snaps but it'll have to be tomorrow. Night time here and the light is dreadful.

Seriously though, if you're thinking about a pair of Service Shoes by guardmyshoes these would make you very happy.
right.

Gave these a polish today so thought I'd post an update on these as I've had them about 4 months now. Really loving these boots and they just seem to get better and better.

Yup probably about a dozen times and about four times in rain. The leather is very, very heavy duty (same as my old pair of 80s NZ Army boots) so they're actually still breaking in. Even wore them in the rain today. I've been wearing my Roughouts more as they're been better in the warmer weather but with autumn pretty much here these will be getting more wear.

An old trick was to piss in traditional leather boots before bed then wear them hard the next day. Disgusting as it might sound to some sensitive 21st century souls it works - Google it if in doubt. I also liberally dose new boots that I don't want to bull to a shine in what was known as Hoopers 1882, now Abbey 1982 leather dressing...

The stuff looks like the contents of a dripping tray [used to love bread n dripping with salt n pepper as a kid] but that's due to the high fat and wax content. It's lovely stuff but a bit heavy for use on refined leather clothing. Ideal for boots though.

Ooo dripping you must have been feed with it by your Gran as was I.

Nan and mum. Good old enamel dripping basin - best bits on top, lather it on a slab of bread then liberally add salt n pepper to taste. Blocked artery heaven! :D

Not sure I fancy spreading Abbey 1982 on my daily bread thougho_O

Been wearing these solidly over the last couple of days to try and properly break them in for the coming cooler months here.

Funny thing with these is that they are built like a brick shithouse and the leather is terrifically thick and stiff but I haven't had a blister from these or any irritation at all, even after wearing them for a 4km walk today. I put some Dr Scholls gel inner soles in when I got them but I'm a bit bamboozled that I haven't gotten any kind of blister on the tops of a toe or the back of the heel. In the past when I've had boots with this thick leather I've suffered or had to do the old army trick of wearing the things in the bath.

I'll post some more progress pics in a few months time. At this stage though pretty damn happy with the things.

Good thing with the Service Shoes is that like the Roughouts they go well with a pair of chinos or a pair of jeans mate.
