FIVESTAR Leather ANJ3 jacket

Since i think the cut of a G1 is more practical than A2 but the mouton collar is kinda too warm for use in the summer i always wanted a G1 without that fur around my neck - well basically a ANJ3

Checked with @Shawn Ali and found an ANJ3 version on the 5Star webside.

Ordered one using the dimensions i got on one of my G1 jackets (manufactured by AVI) - got it - but thought it is too big. Not the fault of 5Star coz i provided the dimensions so i decided to order another one just a bit downscaled. You know how things are: maybe bystanders would not even notice the different in size of both jackets but sometimes you simply feel not comfy ...

After a "facepalm" from my wife (do you really need 2 almost identical jackets) i still find the fit of the later jacket better ...

Anyway ...

For the 2nd jacket i decided for an orange lining coz the patch i got for this one is fictious - the first ANJ came with the more traditional red liner.

Color-combo for leather, knitting and thread are the same with both jackets: seal with olive knits and thread

Quality of both jackets is flawless as far as i'm able to see.

The patch is based on the "BUGSTOMPER" design from the ALIEN II movie as a part of the "Colonial Marines" equipment

Overall i'm really satisfied with what i got.

Both are quite good jackets IMHO. I had originally scrolled down the pictures and thought that the one you're wearing in them was too large. Glad you decided to down size. I'd be far too polite to point that out if you hadn't said anything. Mom would have been ashamed of me if I had.

no offense at all - i do not want to walk around looking like a kid in a oversized jacket and people just "shoulder tapping" me i'm more interested in real opinions

you are right ... - even the smaller one looks kinda large compared to period pictures ...

i take that as "room for layering" ...

Nice jackets , I agree in thinking the G1 or ANJ3 are more practical comfortable jackets
I think that’s why I really love my branded G1 and schott 184 a more civilianized version
With removable fur collar and liner.
Shawn and his crew really did a nice job on those jackets , and I’m loving the aliens bug stompers patch

Good morning
I'm looking for an anj3 from five star but i have a doubt on a measurament
For a chest of 104cm like me the schoulders is 53 cm, and in my opinion is very large
My chest is 104 and the measure of all the jacket is perfect, but i've only a doubt about schoulders lenght (anj3 is 53cm and for exemlpe the same size of chest for a2 is 47, is so big the schoulders of anj3 or is a different way to measure?)
My fivestar b3 jacket is 52cm of schoulders and is ok (not slim is right)
Thanks for your help

I think that if you contact Shawn at Five Star directly, he should be able to give you detailed measurement instructions to get you into the correct size. Also, the threadin the "Vintage section" under "A Better Fighting Garment..." It has a lot of information on G-1 type flight jackets. I have a new reproduction of a Gibson and Barnes AN-J-3 (not Five Star). As it is new there is no stretch. It is a size 42. The measurements: From pit-to-pit- 63 cm. From shoulder-to-shoulder: 50cm. Top of collar to bottom of waist band: 73 cm. Bottom of collar to bottom of waistband: 70cm. I hope this is helpful.

Thank you very much and very interesting
Your measurament in my idea confirm my doubt, that 53 of schoulders is very much for a 104 of chest
Your jacket is bigger and is only 50 of schoulders, that i think right
I've ask at Shawn

I'm sorry if I didn't explain correctly. I'm not trying to sell that jacket. Just trying to let you know about it's measurements so you can compare measurements. A US/GB size 42 equals Italian 52.
