My last A-2 (hopefully) - Good Wear

I've been flipping around over the last few months wanting one more A-2. Lately I've been onboard for one of Shawn's upcoming offerings but I finally thought if this is going to be my last A-2, let's go the whole hog and do it properly. So today I sent in an order to John for a Poughkeepsie - the contract may change but we're on the train to Good Wear goodness.

Funny thing is I was talking with John about getting one back not long after he started in 2008 so this kind of feels like full circle.

This just feels right, just one more A-2 and one from the master.

Really cool, Tim! I'm getting deja vu - I placed an order with John on the spur of the moment, then this week I heard from another member here who did the same, and now this. Glad to see he's getting the business. Really looking forward to seeing how the Poughkeepsie turns out. Yours will be one of the first I've seen.

Glad to see he's still getting the business. Really looking forward to seeing how the Poughkeepsie turns out. Yours will be one of the first I've seen.

Thanks buddy!

I'm actually really excited. Long overdue, I probably should have got a GW all those years ago but I'm in the queue now.

That other member was me ;)
I have been after a high-end russet A-2 for a while now. Tried some of the other makers, but no real joy... I dont 'need' it now, so don't mind waiting.
I've always loved the Bronco contract and imho the only person who can make one properly is john.
So, deposit paid and in the queue.
Looks like we may have a few GWs arriving, a few weeks apart in a year or twos time! Looking forward to everyones fit pics!!!

haha yes,
Im currently on the Bronco (seal or russet? Depends on leather samples)
Also keen on the Monarch, which would be russet (I have my ELC, but... Im not 100% happy with the fit...) and also keen a russet Dubow.

The number I've heard floating around is 12-14 months.

So, Monarch, Poughkeepsie(?) and Bronco(?). There are going to be some interesting reviews floating around the VLJ in August of 2022.

At the moment it's a Poughkeepsie but that could change. Back in 2008 I was interested in a 16160 or 27752. In the year or so to wait I imagine I might flip and flop between contracts, then again that's the fun of the wait period isn't it ;)

Congrats Smithy, but don’t close the door on yourself quite yet. You may acquire another beyond this in the future. I hope you do.

Thanks Nick, I've got 2 A-2s already so I'm kind of actually hoping this will be the last, so they can still get decent wear. Never say never though I suppose!

Man, I know you've talked in the past about how much you liked that Aero contract. Just my opinion, but I'd say go with THAT. Really a classic look. Then again, the fact that it wouldn't have an authentic label might be a drawback...

I'm already starting to sniff around the other contract pages on John's site.

Oh well I've got a year or more to make my mind up!

Same - unfortunately, in my case it doesn't make me reconsider the jacket I'm choosing. I just end up adding more jackets to my wish list! :D

Haha!!!! Don't have any kids just yet Jan otherwise that'll put an end to buying multiple GWs!

It must be something about the Aero designs for me as I've been thinking about two Aero contracts and the Poughkeepsie (which apparently often gets mistaken for an Aero).

Suppose if I narrow it down to collar stand or no collar stand that might help ;-)
