Headwind Mfg...?

Thats exactly this thing.... Also, Dave may agree to do a refurb, but until he has the jacket in-hand, it will be very hard to quote.
I mean leather aside, replacing knit is one thing, replacing the lining, zipper, mouton... May need a good clean... Stitching? Buttons? Adds up.

Going back to repros. At least forking out for a 'new' high-end jacket, you know what you're getting.

When restoring a jacket I’ve always used this analogy .
It’s like stepping into the middle of a puddle filled with dark water . You never know how deep that puddle is, until you’re standing in the middle of it . Once your in ... your in . You might get lucky and the puddle is shallow ... or you could step into it and find that it’s up to your chest and you get soaked . Just can’t tell because as you said , until your into the jacket you have no idea what you’re going to find that needs to be restored or replaced .

If you want a jacket from the WWII period then Dave is your man,my advice is to buy a restored one off him .This way you know the cost and it will be wearable for the rest of your life time .Buying used and hoping to save money on the restoration not so smart ,could end up costing more than Dave sell his ones for .

That, is very good advice actually.
If Dave had something in my size, like Burt's gem above, well... Dave? You there ;)

HELLO VLJ!
I am also looking to see if anyone has had any contact with Jay at Headwind. I prepaid for a jacket and fear that it may have been a mistake. The phone seems to be disconnected. No response back on emails either. This is a major bummer! Any help would be appreciated! thanks in advance, brandon
To update...I have just heard from Jay after almost a year of nothing. The story is the shop had to remain closed due to current events. I’m told that the shop is back running and he is digging through backlog with my jacket near to be started. Hopefully promising news. I’ll keep posting updates as hear them.

Sizing issues - (probably for a different thread) but here goes...I’ve been asked my size for this jacket and not positive how to answer. I have a repro aero bronco that fits well in size 44. My hope is get a near exact fit with some small changes in size. Mostly just longer arm length. I bought myself a flexible tailor tape and I’m looking for input on gathering accurate measurements. I measured arm length at 25” back at 25” chest I’m having difficulty but seems to be 22”-23”. Thoughts on any of this would be great! Thanks in advance.

My advice is do not buy from Headwind , did they not give you a clue already by telling you that hey closed for a year and now have to deal with the backlog .What other jacket makers stopped making jackets during this time you are being set up for a long wait if you order .But its your money you do what you want ,the word limbo comes to mind ! with your mulah .

There's another thread where someone re-added the pics.

Scroll down a little.

the opportunity to cancel and refund has passed. I tried to do this months ago. CC company said to much time has passed between transaction and time of the dispute. I agree still a gamble. Either way my money is gone...

I would definitely say yes. I feel like I will wear it a lot. I got it at the pre-order price: $525.
Twice I waited over two years for a Good Wear (although I in those cases I just paid a deposit, of course), so fifteen months or so does not seem like the end of the world.

Looks like it would drape well...

How is the fit?
