There were plenty sergeant pilots in the Royal Air Force.
That there was......but The Brass were the "gentlemen of means" who dictated the grooming standards
The Americans didn't have the same aristocratic underpinnings that European forces had at the time (since they didn't have class and feudal systems that still stayed strong in Europe until the end of WW2)

Hi
Thx. for your interest.
No more spares available... all sold in a glimpse!
The ones we have left, are all needed for our jacket production.
For the time beeing, not avalaible as spares anymore.

Good question;
the only “ decorated” jackets worn by LW pilots, I saw in photos were US AAF B-3 and one A-2. Never saw a decorated ( non AAF jacket ) on a WW2 LW pilot.
Hello, I also had the same questions about a painted or patched non A2 jacket. JG3 Sturmgruppe had a set of “eyes” painted on their left breast. Their attack on enemy aircraft was held back until they could “see the whites of their eyes”. Here is Uffz Vivroux, Lt Unger and Lt Mueller. It’s possible Ungers sleeve rank is also painted on. I’m still searching for more pics. Best, Bill Bourque

Hello, some follow up. Lt Mueller survived the war. And he kept his A2. He swapped flight jackets with a shot down B17 pilot on the same day he had a forced FW landing. The painted eyes and sleeve insignia wore off. It now resides in a collection. Best, Bill
