If I do end up cancelling through PayPal but the jacket subsequently arrives with me because, unknown to me, it was in transit when I cancelled, I am absolutely not going to feel guilty. But I bet the stony silence becomes a swell of communication in that event...
:D:D You can just about count on it;)

No jacket for me yet, but I suppose I am one of the last to place an order per this forum. It was July. As of right now, I am going to trust and have faith Platon will complete my order. I am from Greenville, SC, so if it ships after end of year, not sure if I will have anymore added expense.

Why don't you let him know your intent?

Its a fair question. But, be assured I have sent several emails and none have brought so much as a sniff of a reply, so why should I try further? I have no doubt a jacket would eventually show up, and very nice jackets they undoubtedly are. But I don't want to risk
further fees if this went into 2021.

And, honestly, my personal jacket world has changed since I ordered and become frustrated with a lack of communication. I now have a new and unplanned russet Goodwear, and in the queue for another Goodwear and if my £450 jacket risks becoming a £600 jacket, then I'd rather pay most of the balance on the GW. Don't get me wrong. I want the jacket, but I want it before 2021 and I want an indication of when which I think is more than fair. Hell, if I had a relative that owed me £450 I wouldn't leave it unmentioned for months on end so why should I in this case? Maybe I'm old fashioned but, when I've paid in full up front its not my place to chase order status till I'm blue in the face, great product and value, or no.

All this is completely fair. But I don't think you need to go chasing after a reply here. You could just send Platon a simple email explaining the situation and why you'll be canceling if the jacket won't reach you before 2021. Then, if he responds, great. If he gets you the jacket on time, great. If not, then you've given him fair warning. That's what I'd do anyway.

You are likely right Mulceber, and I need to wake up tomorrow to a bright new day and feel much less hacked off! Right now I feel like why do I need to bend over that bit more to be fair when there hasn't been much sign of any bending at all my way!

Can't say my intent is to chase a reply here. I was really looking for insight from the queue, which I think I'm getting and not liking much.

Just about had enough of the whole experience really!

I think Jan's idea is perfect. Whizz off a quick email with no beating around the bush, say you want the jacket but explain the whole Brexit situation and possible extra charges, and therefore understandably if you haven't received the jacket by such and such a date then you'll have to cancel via PayPal.

You let him know in advance so he can't really claim any hard feelings if you end up having to pursue that option. If it gives him a kick up the arse to contact you, or even better, pull his finger out and get your jacket finished on time, all the better!

Totally understandable Chris .... The essence of this whole issue is simply consideration for the customer or customer service . If it were me, for my own piece of mind, I would simply pick a “drop dead date” and mark it on a calendar, and be done with it. No more stressing out or dealing with the thought of the whole thing. If the jacket didn’t arrive by that date that would be it. Done and over it. I would contact my credit card company and shut it down and it would be over like a bad marriage!

Thanks guys. I really don't think these long open ended waits are for me. If I wasn't bothered why would I order? Anyway, I'm actually also trying to make a mental note to stop droning on about it too. Sorry to be a bore with it. Cheers

If the jacket world was the same as normal business that is some actual competition rather than a handful of makers most would go out of business after a few months because of their arrogant attitude toward customers.
The reason I have not bought a new A-2 for a long time is all they are interested in is getting their hands on my money as fast possible and after that they don't give a s--t.

I will never want a jacket badly enough enough to put up with crap like that, maybe just angry old man syndrome.

Could you tell what sort of hide the jacket is made of ? Look like HORSEHIDE to me.

It's almost certainly horse. Many of the Italian leathers as of late have that porous graining which looks a bit like goat. However, look to the left (wearer's right) pocket a bit in the photo; you can see a more even flat part with grain striations. If it were goat, all parts would be pebbly.

Thx, a lovely and very well made jacket by all meanings.
