Hi Dear All Respected Members,

In hopes that all are fine, well from some time we are receiving some recommendations to make reproductions of M-445A jackets, as we have all the necessary material for this jacket already in stock so we are looking for some good images close to original to design its patterns.

I request to all of you to please contribute your knowledge to make a best affordable reproduction of this jacket.

Any kind of your help in this project will be really helpful and much appreciated.

Please contribute on its type of reinforcements leather, Its Label, Its pattern Details and Hardware used and patterns measurements for this jacket, any kind of relevant information on this forum will help to produce the best results.

Best Regards

Shawn

Like Tim, I’m no expert on Navy jackets, but I'm told that the M-445A was very similar to the Army’s AN-J-4 (not to be confused with the AN-J-3, which you already offer). So it might be worth your while to develop both jackets at the same time.

The only other thing I can add is I think offering the M-445A is smart, because I don't think you'll have much competition.

For reference, Shawn, here's Jorge's M-445A against Eastman's Poughkeepsie AN-J-4 repro:

There may be some differences, but if you're interested in offering both jackets, I don't think it would be difficult at all to adapt the pattern.

Edit: after doing some more reading, it appears that the design for the HLB Corp M-445A was the same as some of the AN-J-4 contracts. So if you reproduce this contract, Shawn, you could literally just get a set of Navy labels and a set of AAF labels and apply whichever of them your customer wanted.

Warmth wise , how does this compare with a B3? Is it the same type of sheep skin ?
The M-445 and the AN-J-4 are both of similar weight sheepskin to a B-3, so I’d say they’re of a similar level of warmth-possibly a bit warmer, having storm cuffs to seal in the heat. I only owned an AN-J-4 for a short time, mind you, and never wore it in the cold, unlike my B-3, so others may be able to tell you more.
